Wellbeing Culture

for Sustainable Business Growth

Why bother with workplace wellbeing?

Poor Mental Health costs UK employers up to £45 billion a year according to the latest Deloitte research.  Every £1 investment by employers on mental health interventions will yield a £5 return in reduced absence, presenteeism & staff turnover.

Business leaders recognise that their people need to be at their absolute best for their organisation to perform to its fullest capacity. So, they are beginning to acknowledge the need for physical, psychological & social wellbeing for a sustainable business culture.

However, with UK workforces found to be 31% less productive than those of the US & 17% less productive than the rest of the G7 countries (CEBR  2015), more work is needed in people management to include wellbeing. This could result in the economy gaining up to £77B as workforces become more engaged, motivated & productive (Investors in People, 2017).

Impact of a Wellbeing Programme on Culture

All critical areas of Company Culture (Purpose, Opportunity, Leadership, etc.) can be influenced by including Wellbeing in your Culture Strategy. Some of the benefits include:

    • 16% increase in employees who feel a sense of purpose in their jobs
    • 24% increase in the sense of opportunity for development & growth at the organisation
    • 22% increase in people doing great work
    • 19% increase in employees’ perception of their leaders
    • 24% increase in employees’ perception of senior leadership
    • 16% increase in overall employee engagement
    • 18% increase in workplace satisfaction

Wellbeing Supports Employee Engagement

Achieving maximum employee engagement does not come from salary incentives or from performance objectives. It comes from genuinely supporting your employees’ wellbeing & work-life balance & satisfaction on a personal level.

82% of employees scored above the standard for engagement when the organisation demonstrated care & concern for Employee Wellbeing. Only 29% of those who said the organisation did not show care or concern were rated as engaged.
